Congratulations James!

Chartered Success for Newport Trade Mark Attorney

We are delighted to announce that James Manship has successfully completed his final trade mark examinations and qualified as a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney. There are less than 800 Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys in the UK making this a remarkable achievement and reflects James’ hard work, dedication, and expertise in the field of Intellectual Property.

James joined Newport based Tennant IP in 2019, after graduating with a second-class upper division honours degree in Law (LLB) from Cardiff University. He quickly proved himself as a valuable member of their team, providing high-quality advice and service to clients on various IP matters. He also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property from Bournemouth University in 2021, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Commenting on his qualifications and next steps of his career, James said, “As a Part Qualified Trade Mark Attorney, I was responsible for assisting with handling a range of complex and challenging trade mark cases, including clearance searching, drafting applications, responding to objections and managing oppositions. We work with large household names including Rightmove and Tiny Rebel as well as lots of smaller business and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all aspects especially communicating effectively with clients, examiners and opponents, presenting clear and persuasive arguments and achieving favourable outcomes. Having qualified, I look forward to continuing to help our clients with complicated trade mark matters.”

Mike Tennant, Director and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney is delighted for James, he said, “James is not only a brilliant trade mark attorney, but also a friendly and supportive colleague. He is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others, and to contribute to the development of our firm. We are very proud of James and his accomplishments, and we look forward to seeing him grow and excel in his career as a Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney. We are proud that Tennant IP can offer our clients expert advice on trade marks and now that we have two UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys, our knowledge base for a Welsh legal services company is unrivalled”
